Tropicana, Galaxy Join Forces
Galaxy Nutritional Foods, Orlando, FL—under a licensing deal with Tropicana, Bradenton, FL—is test-marketing its Ultra Smoothie™ beverages at Subway restaurant franchises in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area. The plant protein-based product line fits with Subway’s healthy food marketing campaign. Although terms of the deal were not disclosed, Galaxy will purchase bulk amounts of Season’s Best ™, Tropicana’s line of from-concentrate juices, and use its brand name. Galaxy also produces Veggie Slices™ and Veggie Milk™—which it is testing alongside the smoothies in several subway stores—and plans to introduce single serve Ultra Smoothies into retail stores nationwide during the first quarter of 2002.
